New Mexico Rally - Carlsbad NM, September 2014
We had 22 members from the Utah District attend the New Mexico Rally in Carlsbad this past September 25, 26th and 27th. The ride down was a great time. We spend Thursday night in Farmington, NM and made out way to Carlsbad on Friday. A quick stop in Roswell to tour the UFO Museum just whetted our appetite for more. I'd love to go back and spend the morning going over the displays. We continued to Carlsbad later that afternoon and after getting settled in the hotel, went to the Pecos River Convention Center. As luck would have it, we got there just in time for ICE CREAM. They had their social and Light Parade that night and we really enjoyed their hospitality and ice cream!!! Saturday was filled with Vendor Visits, (Thanks to Rick and Linda of the Accessory Pit out of Albuquerque. They support the Region and attend all of the District Rallies. What great folks!!!!) We had a great time, went to some great seminars and ended with a wonderful Saturday nite dinner and awards presentation. We even won a door prize....I'm glad I brought our trailer along!!! Thanks to Doug Pettigrew and his team for a great Rally. Sunday saw us tour the Caverns and some even returned Sunday night to view the bats exiting the caverns in droves.Someone who shall remain nameless ( your welcome Linda Young) even had a birthday during our trip. Thanks Jerry and Gisela for the cake!!! Monday started the ride home, with a side trip to Alamagordo and the White Sands National Monument. For someone raised on the East Coast, it was a lot like going to the beach as we walked over the dunes. Just like in New Hampshire, except there was no Atlantic Ocean on the other side of the dunes!!! We split into smaller groups for the ride home. We all hit weather of one sort or another on the return trip, but everyone made it safely.
